CBCSD lanched ˇ°Symposium on Corporate Social Responsibilityˇ± |
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) project working group and training project working group of CBCSD launched the first symposium on ˇ°China Corporate Social Responsibility Recommended Standard and Good Practicesˇ± on October 17th, 2006. On the symposium, experts and scholars from Peking University introduced CSR recommended standard and practice system, while senior executives from CBCSD multi-national companies both home and abroad introduced their companiesˇŻ good CSR practices. Speakers from CBCSD member companies are as followed, Mr. Cao ZhiˇŻan, VP of SGCC; Mme. Monique Vanvi, VP of Arcelor-Mittal China; Mr. Johnny Kwan, Managing Director of BASF Greater China; Mr. William Valentino, GM of Bayer China; Mme. Liu Xiaowei, Deputy Director of External Affairs of Shell (China), etc. Through presentations, communication and interactions, participants discussed and shared experience on how to practice social responsibility among different industry sectors and different companies. Practicing Corporate Social Responsibility is a formidable task in the long-term view. It is far from enough from our member companies to further carry out CSR practices themselves. At the same time, they should encourage and drive their own business partners to implement CSR together, allowing more and more corporations understand and learn about how to practice social responsibility in China. On this symposium, CBCSD proposed the format of ˇ°1+3ˇ±, i.e. one member company selects three companies from their supply chain and promotes them to practice CSR, in that way to expand the influence of ˇ°China Corporate Social Responsibility Recommended Standard and Good Practices.ˇ± BASF China, Sinopec, DuPont China and other CBCSD member companies recommended their business partners to attend the symposium, which was the first step to bring along those companies to commit to CSR practices. It was a good beginning for the ˇ°1+3ˇ± format.
