On 25 January 2008, Group PSA Peugeot Citroen donated 20 computers to Naixishixian School. They will be used in the schoolĄŻs brand new computer room which has now been fully equipped and furnished by Group PSA Peugeot Citroën. The school is located in a remote suburban area in Beijing Chaoyang District, beyond the north fifth ring. It was founded in 2000 and currently has 750 pupils and employs 32 teachers. The pupils, who mostly come from the provinces of Sichuan, Anhui, Jiangxi and Hebei, are all migrant workersĄŻ children. The schoolĄŻs former computers were all outdated and unfit for Internet access, which was a big handicap in the childrenĄŻs education. Group PSA Peugeot CitroënĄŻs donation will improve the school's teaching conditions, which the children undoubtedly deserve. The education bureau of Chaoyang District of Beijing highly approved this initiative, which is a sign of Group PSA Peugeot CitroënĄŻs commitment to education in China.
Group PSA Peugeot Citroën attaches great importance to corporate social responsibility. As a historical partner of the development of the automotive industry in China, it has always been in favour of sustainable development in China. In September 2007, it supported the renovation of a primary school located in Xinzhou, a remote mountain town in Shanxi, and renamed Ą°PSA Peugeot CitroënĄŻs Friendship Primary SchoolĄ±. In November 2007, Group PSA Peugeot Citroën, along with the China Association for Science and Technology, became involved in Ą°The Science BusesĄ± project, whereby buses travel across China and visit schools and rural areas in order to spread knowledge of science. Within the framework of that partnership, a bus with an educational exhibition on road safety is now travelling across the southern province of Guangxi.
