| Russian gas supplies to Poland have dropped by 36 percent amid an extreme cold spell that has been lingering in the past days, Polish Economy Minister Piotr Wozniak said on Monday. Wozniak said PGNiG, the country's main gas supplier, has cut its output to several industrial clients ln response to the fall in supplies. Households would not feel the drop for the time being, he added. Russia has not explained what caused the drop, said the minister. The drop in gas supplies came as both Poland and Russia have been hit by an extreme Arctic front. In Warsaw, temperatures dropped overnight to minus 27 Celsius, while temperatures in Moscow plunged to minus 38 Celsius, making it the coldest winter in the Russian capital in nearly three decades. |
