Increasing coal shortage expected

China was expected to consume 2.2 billion tons of coal a year by 2010, resulting in a shortage of 330 million tons a year, the China Daily reported Wednesday.China now produced about 1.67 billion tons of coal a year, the newspaper quoted Wang Xianzheng, a vice director of the State Administration of Work Safety as saying.
