China willing to cooperate with UAE in energy resources

Visiting Chinese vice premier Zeng Peiyan held talks with Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed al-Nahyan, deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Abu Dhabi on June 12, 2005.

Zeng put forward a five-point proposal on Sino-UAE cooperation:

I. Strengthening political mutual trust between the two countries.

II. Pushing forward cooperation in the field of energy resources. Chinese petrochemical enterprises have certain strength and experience and are willing to participate more in the exploitation of oil and gas resources and in petrochemical projects. It is hoped that UAE government can offer more support and assistance in this regard.

III. Enpanding cooperation in the field of infrastructure construction. UAE has seen a fast-growing economy and flourishing undertakings. Chinese enterprises enjoy certain advantages in terms of price and technique, and hope to participate more in UAE's sectors such as telecommunications, real estate, port, railway as well as building materials, and to undertake large-scale engineering projects.

IV. Raising the level of mutual investment.

V. Vigorously enhancing the facilitation of investment and trade.

Zeng Peiyan hoped that UAE can resume the normal trade of China's poultry exports so as to boost the level of bilateral trade.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed al-Nahyan said that UAE welcomes Chinese enterprises to set foot in the exploration of oil and gas resources, and will deepen the friendly relations with China in various fields in an all-round way.
