22nd Congress on Law of World to hold simulated environmental pollution trial

A simulated trial of an international environment pollution dispute is expected to be held in the Great Hall of People during the convention of the 22nd Congress on the Law of the World, according to the organization committee of the Congress.

The collegial panel of the simulated trial will consist of those chief justices from the participant countries of the Congress. The six lawyers will represented by certain delegates of the Congress, said the person in charge of the Organization Committee of the 22nd Congress on the Law of the World.

The Congress will be held in Beijing and Shanghai from September 4 to 10. Panel discussions will be held in both places. The theme of the Congress is "the rule of law and harmony in the international society", The profound potential of rule of law and its role and challenges in building a harmonious international society will be discussed.

Around the theme, 22 special topics will be discussed in the Congress, including international cooperation on anti-corruption, international criminal law, international terrorism, international property law, real estate and property law, family law and maritime law.

To date, approximately 1,000 domestic judges, prosecutors and law experts have registered to attend the Congress, while more than 360 foreign judges and law professionals from 52 countries will also attend the Congress.

Xiao Yang, China's Chief Justice and the president of the Supreme People's Court, will be the president of the Organization Committee of the Congress.
