Capital hits recycling targets
Date:08-10-2005 Source:
NATIONAL recycling targets have been hit in Edinburgh for the first time. New figures show the amount of household and commercial waste being recycled has reached 28 per cent - 3 per cent higher than standards set by the Executive. The breakthrough was achieved in June, following a massive roll-out of new kerbside collections and facilities. Recycling facilities for high-rise flats and tenements, and overhauling waste dumps as recycling centres, are planned.
