"We Chinese should not learn from the United States in developing economy, because the Americans are too wasteful. We should develop the "recycling economy", said Fu Taode, general manager with the China Changshu Automobile decorative parts Co Ltd. Chinese characters naturally show a sentimental tendency, if I were not talking face to face with him, I would hardly believe that the manager of a Chinese private enterprise is a handsome young man with golden hair, blue eyes and white skin. Thirty-year-old Fu Taode was from Michigan, USA, but he has been in China for over 10 years. He was born in one of the five largest industrially developed lake areas, he had studied in famous Nanjing University in China, he married a beautiful Chinese woman and he lived and worked in the Yangtze River Delta where China's economy is most dynamic, the enterprises under his charge aimed to produce "recycling economic" products with environment protection technology, Fu Taode was beaming with joy whenever he talked about China's "recycling economy". He said, "In the United States, people are used to taking large cars and living in big houses, they consume much energy and water. But they have come to realize that they are wrong in doing so and are irresponsible. In the final analysis, we have only one globe." As a foreigner, Fu Taode has a mind full of the "China consciousness: "In China, there are not many resources for waste." Fu said, In the United States, for example, inside the doors of the car used fine guard board as linings, there is no problem in this respect, because it has Canada at the back, so they have sufficient forest resources for use. But China does not have such conditions. We Chinese have great demand for cars, and the automobile industry has developed so rapidly, what shall we do? "Fu said that they make use of wastes and use advanced technology to produce waste materials into up-to-standard woolen blankets, which can entirely substitutes fine wooden board and plastic articles, at the same time, it is possible to substantially reduce the cost of guard boards for car doors. This is "recycling economy", said Fu cheerfully. Fu added, "Since our produce-based economy is practical, naturally it enjoys a brisk market." Although currently some clients do not accept their new products for the time being due to their habitual reasons, Fu believes that through his own efforts, he is sure that more and more car-building plants will adopt the products made by the recycling economy. Fu claims that he would not miss any "opportunity of idea" to promote the marketing of the "recycling economy. Even some Chinese state leaders called at his enterprises, Fu still not forgot to emphasize the importance of the " recycling economy" to China's economic development. His efforts have been rewarding. As China's third largest auto part enterprise in association with the FAW, the Shanghai General Motor and other Chinese automobile giants, the Changshu Auto parts Co. Ltd. produces 300,000 sets of auto decorative parts, uses nearly 70 percent of these recycling economy products. Qirui, Dongfeng Peugeot and other auto brands all use Fu's environment protection products. In 2004 the weight of leftover bits and pieces and waste polypropylene used by the enterprise respectively reached 5,000 tons. Particularly Qirui,", said Fu proudly, "it is, after all, our enterprise which has independent intellectual property rights, and it is rapidly receptive to new ideas". As they talked and talked, the reporter almost forgot that Fu is an American.
