The city of Calabasas Environmental Commission has approved a new “Recycler of the Month” program for city residents. The purpose of the program is to encourage and increase recycling participation throughout the city. Each resident will be mailed a “Recycler of the Month” drawing card for entry into the program. Residents who regularly recycle bottles, cans, papers, newspapers, glass, plastics, metals, electronics and green wastes should fill out the card with their name and contact information and mail it back to city hall. At each meeting of the commission, one card will be selected at random. Once city staff has verified that the chosen resident recycles, the winning resident will be presented a $250 check from the city. The commission, which meets the first Tuesday of each month, plans to reward 12 residents for their recycling efforts.
