China's installed power generation capacity reaches 480 million kilowatts

By the end of September 2005, China's installed capacity for power generation reached 480 million kilowatts, the China Electricity Council (CEC) announced on Thursday. During the first nine months this year, China increased 39.98 million kilowatts of installed capacity for power generating, of which 5.57 million kilowatts were hydroelectric, 33.94 million kilowatts were thermal-electric, 118,200 kilowatts were wind-electric, according to the CEC. During the nine months, China also accelerated the grid construction, extending 16,267 kilometers of more-than-110-kilovolt lines across the country, according to CEC.
