A spring maker is helping equipment manufacturers meet stringent environmental and product recycling directives by adopting zerovalent chrome plating as the standard finish for operating rods across its complete range of UK-made gas springs, with the exception of all-stainless steel variants. In lab tests, Industrial Gas Springs' electrolytically deposited metallic chrome has proved to pose no risk to human health or the environment and it offers several benefits for users. Auto industry customers will benefit from chrome's special micro cracking surface structure, which enhances seal performance and longevity compared with nitriding.
