THE Novelis recycling plant in Warrington recycled six billion beverage cans in the first nine months of the year and has just invested pounds 1.4m to boost reprocessing capacity by 25%. This will be achieved by adding the infrastructure and equipment to move molten metal around the site, to increase flexibility and enable Novelis to recycle cans from across Europe. "The plant at Warrington is our major recycling facility in Europe," said Nick Madden, president of Novelis' European Can, Litho and Recycling, and this investment "confirms European reprocessing capacity is not an issue for aluminium cans".
