Future Leaders Team (FLT) 2013 kicks off in New York

 

The WBCSD’s Future Leaders Team (FLT) is a unique professional development opportunity which aims to develop sustainability leaders for the future who understand the sustainability challenges and can position these to make strategic decisions. The program is designed to help upcoming business leaders grapple with the complex topics, issues and concepts that will influence their future. The program creates a global network of dynamic business leaders, capable of acting as sustainable development ambassadors both within their companies and in society.

 

The FLT 2013 is focusing on integrating sustainability into finance, investment and reporting. Participants will assess the business case for integrating sustainable development into finance, this will include investments and reporting, and defining opportunities and challenges. They will work on group specific projects such as developing communication tools, frameworks or guidelines to better engage the finance community and investors in sustainability. The FLT 2013 team will also attend the Global Conference on Sustainability and Reporting -GRI meeting - in Amsterdam in May 2013 and will present their group project work at the WBCSD Council Meeting in Istanbul in November.

 

The FLT 2013 will start today and is bringing together 29 high potential future leaders who will work together over a nine month period. In New York, the participants will have the opportunity to test out their knowledge, challenges and concerns about sustainable development with a unique  experts from the finance community and specialists from WBCSD member companies. There will also be opportunities for networking and planning for the next phase of the FLT program. The meeting will be facilitated by Dr. Rodney Irwin, Suzanne Feinmann and Anne-Leonore Boffie from the WBCSD.
