One Mission
Michelin's mission is to contribute to the progress of the mobility of people and goods by improving the freedom, security, efficiency, and fun of travel. Michelin's business activities are carried out around the mission, such as the tire products and mobility auxiliary system of technology innovation, to map and guide for drivers and travelers, " Bibendum challenge" to promote the sustainable development of human mobility through the exploration of new energy and new technology, the promoting of the use of "green tyre" and recycling of waste tires and promoting road safety activities and other environmental action.
Five Respects
In order to better achieve the group's mission, Michelin in 2002 introduced a "Michelin performance and responsibility charter", making clear that "five respect" is our core values. The purpose of "Michelin performance and responsibility charter" is to perform this kind of values in the global business. To implement "five respects" not only promoted better understanding and practice of the company mission, but also contributed to the sustainable development of the company itself.
The Performance and Responsibilities
In April 2002, under the sponsorship of its managing partner (Mr. Edward Michelin and Mr. ZhanKaiFu), Michelin group launched a project called "Michelin performance and responsibility". Based on the group of five values and by evaluating and reducing the difference between group values and the implementation, the project aims to establish a formal framework so that the group can meet its responsibilities in the face of the public. In a large sense, the plan changes Michelin’s culture into the practice of management principles. Under the drive of continuous innovation, it provides us with mobility-related issues as well as the company's long-term sustainable development solutions.
After internal diagnosis in 2002, we published the Michelin performance and responsibility charter.
This charter explained our values so that we can better implement it, and making clear our responsibility for stakeholders (customers, shareholders, employees, business partners, the public, government, media, and local community)
Michelin promises to adopt a balanced and responsible long-term development mode. Our progress will go through long-time test. Therefore We decided to release performance and accountability report every two years. In the years not releasing the report, we will work out key indicators of each performance and responsibility in mid-term report.
The report has two purposes: monitor our project progress and inform partners; let them understand and be familiar with how we will take responsibility for our own actions.
