US-China Ecopartnerships Workshop was held in Beijing, CBCSD suggested on “How to integrate resources and engage multi-stakeholders”
On July 8, 2014, China’s National Development and Reform Commission and the US Department of the State and the Department of Energy co-hosted the “2014 US-China EcoPartnerships Workshop” in Beijing. Xie Zhenhua, Deputy Minister of NDRC, Noveli, the Under Secretary of State and Elkind, the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Energy attended and addressed the meeting. The CBCSD and the USBCSD, as ecopartnerships, attended the meeting and delivered a speech themed “How to integrate resources and engage multi-stakeholders” and interacted with other participants. About 100 representatives from NDRC, US State Department and the Department of Energy as well as the Ecopartners attended the meeting.
Xie Zhenhua said in his speech, strengthening cooperation in climate change and energy under the new situation conformed to the connotation of building a new model of major power relationship between China and US. The cooperation between China and US in these fields is promising and worth-doing. Under the US-China framework for the Ten Year Cooperation on energy and environment, EcoPartnerships as a cooperative platform between local governments, enterprises and research institutes of the two sides is innovative, pragmatic and duplicable model for cooperation in low-carbon and energy-saving fields. Noveli, the Under Secretary of State, spoke highly of the pragmatic model and achievements of CBCSD and US BCSD partnership, and she believed that “this cooperation has set a good example for other partners and is a milestone and brand for other EcoPartners.”
CBCSD and US BCSD joined panel discussion on “How to integrate resources and engage multi-stakeholders”, shared experience in project implementation and raised suggestions on scaling up circular economy practices with regards to government incentives, sharing of resource information cross industries and enterprises, maximizing benefits within industrial park zones, etc.
