Premier Li Keqiang Announced that China Had Submitted the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions

On June 30, Premier Li Keqiang announced that Chinese government had formulated the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions in order to address climate change, and submitted it to the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Premier Li stated that, the Chinese government determined its contributions by 2030 in the context of China’s national circumstances, development stage, sustainable strategy and international responsibility. The aims include that China will peak carbon dioxide emissions by around 2030; it will cut its carbon dioxide emissions per unit of gross domestic product by 60-65% from 2005 levels; it will increase the share of non-fossil fuels as part of its primary energy consumption to about 20% by 2030; it will increase the forest volume by 4.5 billion cubic meters from 2005 levels.
