CBCSD Annual Board Meeting and the Twelfth Conference on Latest Trends of Sustainable Development were held in Beijing.

(April 20, 2016, Beijing)– In the April 20 of 2016, CBCSD held the Annual Board Meeting and the Twelfth Conference on Latest Trends of Sustainable Development themed by Pathway of Green and Low Carbon Development. Over 130 high level leaders from CBCSD board companies, member companies, businesses, government, academic circles and social organizations. President and CEO of WBCSD, Mr. Peter Bakker, sent a video speech to the conference.

President of China Enterprises Confederation and former Standing Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, Mr. Wang Zhongyu attended the conference and delivered a speech. He pointed out that new national strategy brings about new goals for businesses in sustainable development. Corporate social responsibility should be carried out from the aspects of structural adjustment, technology development, and energy conservation and emission reduction management enhancement to promote the sustainability cause and accomplish the pathway of green and low carbon development.
Dr. Myung-Ja Kim, Chairperson of KBCSD, expressed her congratulations and proposed more business cooperation on the basis of the SDGs and New Climate Agreement as well as an invitation to the Second Korea-China Sustainable Development CEO Roundtable in Jeju in September 2016.

Jiang Zhaoli, Deputy Director General of Department of Climate Change, National Development and Reform Commission, Li Tie, Director of China Center for Urban Development of National Development and Reform Commission, Song Zhiping, Chairman of CNBM, Yang Fuqiang, Senior Advisor of Natural Resources Defense Council, Wei Jigang, Researcher of Research Department of DRC, the State Council, Duan Maosheng, Director of the National Carbon Market Research Center in Tsinghua University, Zhang Jian, Director of Urban and Rural Planning Management Center of MOHURD, Zheng Daqing, Global Vice President of BASF and Jennifer Ye, Partner of Risk Assurance Services in PwC China delivered speeches from different aspects including resource governance strategy and energy efficiency, addressing climate change and low carbon development and new type urbanization and business solutions. They explained new trends and public policies to tackling climate change, carbon emission reduction and control, sustainable development of cities, business practice and other aspects, in simple languages with profound theories, from the perspective of macro policies and specific actions as well as new path to the green and low carbon development from different angles.

In the end, president of CBCSD, Wang Jiming gave a closing speech. He pointed out that CBCSD will take the role of connection among businesses, government and organizations to respond difficulties and requirement of enterprises, convey focus areas of government, promote the accomplishment of typical project of CBCSD and the implementation of business solution of board and member companies under the guidance and policy of related governmental sectors.
