On July 8th, Fortune magazine released the latest list of Fortune 500. Chinese companies reached the record high of totaling 95(includes companies in HK and Taiwan region), taking up 19% of the 500 companies. This year marks the 10th consecutive year for Chinese companies to be on the rise on Fortune 500 list. Apart from the rising number of companies, listed Chinese businesses have gross income of $ 5.2 billion, amounting to 17% of the Fortune 500 income. Among the 31 companies that are new on the list, 60% of them, that is 18 companies come from China, which ranks the first among all the countries with the most newly listed companies.
36 CBCSD member companies or their headquarters, which are nearly half of CBCSD’s 74 total members, are on the Fortune 500 2013 list, taking up about 7.2% of the 500 companies. The 36 listed enterprises include 11 Chinese companies, and 25 foreign ones, including the ones from the US(8), France(4), UK(3), the Netherland(3), Switzerland(2), Australia(1), Ireland(1), Japan(1) and other 9 countries. From the perspective of sector mix, the listed CBCSD member companies or their headquarters are mainly in the industries of oil and gas, chemical, electricity, steel, machinery, vehicle manufacturing, and mining resources, with a total yearly income of $ 3.3 trillion occupying 10.9% of the Fortune 500 income and a total yearly profit of $ 152 billion occupying 10% of the Fortune 500 profit.
