Nippon Paint China teamed up with the Dow Chemical Company to celebrate Teachers' Day on September 9 in Ziyang, Sichuan Province. Leaders from the two companies visited the Dow Chemical Hope School as part of the "Color, Way of Love" project, which has helped provide a better learning environment for children nationwide.

Reconstruction of the Dow Chemical Hope School was funded by the company following the devastating 2008 Wenchuan quake. In October 2011, students resumed learning at the school's new campus. In order to provide students with a brighter learning environment, the walls of the school were given a colorful makeover by Nippon Paint China as part of the "Color, Way of Love" project.

Eric Chung, president of Nippon Paint China, and Yoke Loon Lim, general manager of the painting materials department at Dow Chemical's Asia-Pacific division, jointly visited the school last week to open the Nippon Paint Happy Art Classroom. Chung and Lim also helped paint the "Corridor of Love" in the new building, taught English and science classes to students and presented gifts to teachers.

Lim said his visit showed that the Dow Chemical Company shares the same values and commitment to social responsibility as Nippon Paint China. "Together, we are looking forward to changing children's mindset by offering them a better future," he said.

In the five years of growth since its launch in 2009, the "Color, Way of Love" project has helped tens of thousands of students at 135 schools across the country. A total of 35 "Hope" schools have been built as of 2013.

Nippon Paint China has built stable partnerships with multinationals, such as the Dow Chemical Company, to further its philanthropy mission, said Chung.

"The participation of [corporate] partners has allowed 'Color, Way of Love' to become a powerful charitable platform. We hope we can work hand in hand with all partners to help more children," said Chung, adding that the project has also set up art classes and summer camps.

In addition to Nippon Paint China and the Dow Chemical Company, "Color, Way of Love" is supported by Canon, Boeing, the Wahaha Group and Coca-Cola.

"As always, we welcome and look forward to having more enterprises work together to help provide children with a better future," said Ariel Wu, project leader of "Color, Way of Love."'
