- Recognizes BASF’s ongoing, outstanding contributions in promoting Responsible Care and boosting sustainable development across chemical industry in China
- BASF is the only multinational enterprise award recipient
Shanghai, China – November 20, 2014 – BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, today was named one of the Top 10 Winners of the Responsible Care Best Organizer Award for its ongoing, outstanding efforts in implementing and promoting Responsible Care in China’s petroleum and chemical industry.
The award is given by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association (CPCIF), representing the majority of petroleum and chemical companies in China. BASF was the only multinational enterprise listed among the awardees.
“We are very proud to receive this award. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to implementing and promoting the globally accepted best practices of the chemical industry — not only to all of our sites in Greater China, but also to customers and suppliers,” said Bradley Morrison, Senior Vice President, Operations & Site Management, Greater China, BASF.
Since 1992, BASF has incorporated Responsible Care into its own development goals and business guidelines, and became one of the joint initiators of the Responsible Care Global Charter in 2006. Additionally, BASF actively promotes Responsible Care among its Chinese partners and related industries. One example is the Together for Sustainability (TfS) initiative, which aims to enhance sustainability within the whole supply chain.
For the past 20 years, BASF has actively supported and cooperated with CPCIF to promote Responsible Care in China’s chemical industry. To further support the industry, BASF joined the CPCIF in 2013. At CPCIF, BASF has taken on a leading role in promoting high environment, health and safety (EHS) standards as well as best practices in transparent communication and emergency response in the local chemical industry.
Responsible Care is the global chemical industry’s voluntary initiative to improve EHS performance, enhance safety and security, and to communicate with stakeholders about products and processes.
