SGCC Received IEEE-SA Corporate Award

The State Grid Corporation of China(SGCC) received the “Corporate Award” from the Standards Association of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE-SA) for its outstanding corporate leadership and contribution to the standardization work of ultra-high voltage transmission technology at the annual awards ceremony of IEEE-SA on Sunday, 7 December 2014, at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, N.J.

IEEE-SA Corporate Award is announced annually by IEEE-SA to award distinguish both members and non-members for their leading participation in the advancement of new technologies and standards development.

Initiated by SGCC, three international standards for ultra-high voltage transmission were approved in March 2011 and published by IEEE-SA in June 2014. Namely, IEEE 1860-2014, Guide for Voltage Regulation and Reactive Power Compensation at 1000 kV AC and Above, IEEE 1862-2014, Recommended Practice for Overvoltage and Insulation Coordination of Transmission Systems at 1000 kV AC and Above and IEEE 1861-2014, Guide for On-Site Acceptance Tests of Electrical Equipment and System Commissioning of 1000 kV AC and Above.

Experts from 11 well-known institutes and enterprises such as Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Siemens and Toshiba were involved in the drafting work and experts from SGCC took position of the chairs of the three working groups.

In recent years, SGCC has taken full advantage of its technical superiority to accelerate the transformation from innovative results to international standards, with 15 international standards projects and of which 6 approved by IEEE.
