AREVA has signed a contract with U.S. utility FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) for outage, maintenance, and engineering activities at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Ohio. The integrated outage services contract includes refueling, steam generator inspection, as well as materials degradation inspection and mitigation.
Beginning in 2015, AREVA will provide these services during the next three outages at the plant. In alignment with Electric Power Research Institute’s Materials Reliability Program, AREVA will also perform non-destructive examinations of the pressurized water reactor’s components to ensure the materials’ integrity and to safely extend the reactor’s long-term operations.
“This contract demonstrates FENOC’s confidence in our high-performance solutions which meet many of the economical and operational challenges facing nuclear utilities,” said Craig Ranson, chief operating officer of AREVA Inc.
