YuMi, the latest robot researched and developed by ABB based on the automation technology, met the public for the first time at Milan Expo 2015. The Expo lasts for six months and has invited over 140 enterprises to display their ideas regarding how to maintain the earth health and food supply with science and technology. YuMi displayed the food processing and classification capacity at the Expo. It was originally used as a tool on the production line of consumer electronics. The robot can be used in many fields because of multifunctionality, rather than being limited to the functions preconceived at the beginning of design. Its 3D printing manipulator designed by Materialise explains why it can be such an “all-rounder”.
