“National Environmental Risk Committee” proposed by China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development

On November 9, 2015, annual meeting of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) was held in Beijing, on which the establishment of “National Environmental Risk Committee” was proposed to further control and reduce environmental risks. The bulletin of Ministry of Environmental Protection this May reported more than 4,000 enterprises at major environmental risk level nationwide at present. These enterprises are susceptible to abrupt environmental accidents which pose potential threat to people’s life and property safety and social stability, involving key industries like petroleum processing, coking, chemical raw materials, chemicals manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, etc.
