ABB Provides Leading Technology for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridg

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a large scale project that connects three major cites on the Pearl River Delta and represents the longest sea crossing and the longest fixed link on earth. We are proud to say that one of our exhibitors, ABB, has provided many innovative solutions for this construction project.

ABB medium-voltage drive products are integrated in the exhaust air system of the HZDQ tunnel and adopt a fusion-free design. Its microsecond turn-off time is 100 times faster than the traditional quick fuse, which can significantly reduce the equipment failure rate caused by the fuse, thus reducing the energy consumption and mechanical wear of the fan, and extending the service life of the equipment.

ABB’s two compact and reliable low-voltage and low-power transmission products are used in HVAC and water supply systems of the artificial island buildings.

ABB rack and cabinet type capacitor sets are installed in the substation under the sea surrounding the artificial islands. Their role is to effectively compensate the reactive power and improve the power factor and efficiency for the entire undersea tunnel power engineering including the suspended jet fan. ABB also provided power products and solutions, including GIS switchgear, multiple transformers, and substation automation systems, which greatly improves power efficiency and ensures high quality power transmission and normal operation of the equipment.

Furthermore, ABB also provides a wide variety of low-voltage products, systems and services, including gas insulated switch gear and control products.

ABB products and solutions cover several operating aspects, such as information communication, electrical safety and building automation, and help different functional areas of the bridge to achieve reliable electric power monitoring and energy management, while providing an energy-efficient operation and maintenance.
