Witnessed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron, Kou Wei, Executive Chairman of State Grid, and Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of Électricité de France (EDF), signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on November 6, marking a new stage of collaboration between the two parties and new stride in Sino-French energy cooperation.

This agreement is an important follow-up of in-depth cooperation between China and France in the energy field. Both parties will work together in such aspects as power grid, research and innovation, energy internet and energy services through demonstration projects, technical seminars, thematic benchmarking, etc. According to the agreement, cooperation in power transmission and distribution involves large grid planning, line operation by helicopters, live line work and distribution network automation; that in research and innovation involves renewable energy integration, energy storage, AC/DC hybrid power grid, electric vehicle and industry standard formulation; that of Internet of Things in Electricity involves smart sensing, big data and cloud computing, block chain, comprehensive energy services and data analysis. The agreement is concrete and pragmatic, laying a solid foundation for a win-win cooperation in energy sectors between the two countries.

As a French state-owned energy group, EDF is one of the largest power suppliers in the world, and is globally competitive in nuclear, thermal, hydro and renewable energies. The cooperation will promote the development of energy industry in both countries and State Grid’s vision of building a world-class energy internet company.
