19 companies spent 29.8 million RMB for the emission allowances

The first auction for emission trade was held in Hangzhou recently. And 19 companies, from thermoelectricity, chemical, and brewing industry, printing and dyeing industry, spent 29.8 million RMB for the emission allowances of 1,095 ton sulfur dioxide and 180 ton Chemical Oxygen Demand.
The emission trade started early in Hangzhou, compared to other cities. On September, 1, 2006, it released "Hangzhou management methods on emission trade of main pollutants" and other regulations , Then a group for promoting emission trade was founded to implement the policies.
Hangzhou Price Bereau said, the price of SO2 per ton was 20,000 RMB, and the price of COD had 4 levels, the lowest one was 20,000 RMB per ton, and the highest was 80, 000 RMB, which was depended on the cost of treatment process and content of polluted water. The emission allowances should also be audited, based on the environmental capacity evaluation.
