The 2nd C40 Sustainable Development Forum opens in Wuhan

On September 12, the 2nd C40 Sustainable Development Forum opened in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province, attracting representatives from 15 cities around 12 countries and over 100 experts and scholars in the world.

On the forum, Wuhan signed with C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group to co-build Wuhan China’s first climate-resilient city. According to the agreement, C40 will provide support in climate change vulnerability assessment and the construction of meteorological disaster monitoring and early warning platform.

To highlight, Wuhan issued the first white paper on low carbon on the forum and witnessed the establishment of the expert committee of voluntary carbon trading.

Simon Hansen, the Director of Regions, C40 Cities, praised Wuhan’s accomplishment in building low-carbon transport city, citing the projects as smart transportation and East Lake Greenway. “Wuhan’s experience is worth of promoting and using worldwide, ” he added.
