Li Ganjie meets with South Korean Minister of Environment

Minister Li Ganjie met with Madame Kim Eunkyung, South Korean Minister of Environment, in Beijing on Dec. 13. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral environmental cooperation and other issues of common concern.

Li began by extending warm welcome to the delegation headed by Madame Kim and gave a brief introduction to China’s environmental protection work. The Chinese Government has highly valued ecological and environmental protection and made notable progress in strengthening pollution control by adopting strong measures, he said. The 19th National Congress of the CPC has come up with a raft of new philosophies, new requirements, new objectives, and new plans for building ecological civilization and protecting the ecological environment, which ushers China’s ecological conservation undertaking into a new era. In the next step, we will thoroughly implement the guiding principles of the 19th National Congress, put up an uphill battle against pollution, and continue to improve the ecological environment quality.

Li said that China and South Korea have maintained good ties in the environment field. The two sides have agreed on China-South Korea Environmental Cooperation Plan (2018-2022) and will build China-South Korea Environmental Cooperation Center. He believed the two sides will take this opportunity and make new strides in bilateral environmental cooperation.

Madame Kim appreciated China’s ecological conservation efforts, notably the achievements in fighting air pollution. She hoped the two sides will explore new ways of cooperation that will lead to more effective outcomes.
