Since the implementation of the "Strategic Plan for the Heritage of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games," specific arrangements have been made for the construction of Olympic venues, post-competition utilization, cultural heritage, and other aspects. New competition areas that are now being built in Yanqing and Zhangjiakou will become permanent venues after 2022, according to the plan.

The city is also planning to construct a festive cultural plaza called the Olympic Avenue. The plaza will be equipped with a large display screen and a countdown clock, and host a series of activities such as a mascot carnival. On May 11, the plaza will hold a ceremony for the beginning of the thousand-day countdown toward the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The sustainable use of Olympic legacies will be taken into consideration during the construction of the Olympic venues and supporting facilities. According to the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, there are 13 competition and non-competition venues in Beijing, of which 11 were previously used for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The organizing committee has also set up plans of sustainable usage of the newly built venues, including the National Alpine Ski Center, the National Sled Center and Yanqing Winter Olympic Village. After 2022, the National Alpine Ski Center will become the venue for training of the Chinese national team and other domestic and foreign professional teams, as well as for hosting international events. The National Sled Center will be opened to the public and host mass tourism activities, and Yanqing Winter Olympic Village will be transformed into a hot spring resort.

"Many ski trails will be built in Yanqing, and we will also build a mountain sports park as well as an outdoor sports experience center, so that we can attract more public participation," said Liu Yumin, director of the organizing committee's planning and construction department.

In Zhangjiakou, the National Ski Jumping Center, the National Cross-country Skiing Center, the National Biathlon Center, and Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Village will be permanently preserved as Olympic legacies and be transformed into an Olympic park. The city is planning to build the core area of the event into a world-class tourist destination.

Construction of transportation facilities is also speeding up. The newly built Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway, Chongli Intercity Railway, and Yanqing-Chongli Highway have formed an efficient network, which will greatly enhance the transportation capacity of Beijing and Zhangjiakou. Particularly, after the completion of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway, a train ride from Beijing to Zhangjiakou will take only 50 minutes.

The competition area of the Winter Olympics will be fully powered by green energy, a first in the Olympic history. In addition, a 5G base station has been installed in Shougang Park where the organizing committee is located, and 5G service will cover all Winter Olympic venues.
