China's major infrastructure project provider China Communications Construction Co, or CCCC, said it will seek more cooperation with third parties while constructing projects and investing in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Liu Qitao, chairman of the company, said they will seek more technology cooperation with companies in developed countries in particular, while building projects or making investment across the world.
Liu said that in the past few years, CCCC has had some such cooperation already. While building the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, the company worked together with UK engineering and project management consultancy Atkins in designing the termini in Mombasa and Nairobi.
"The unique architectural styles of them got recognition by Kenyans and the termini also became landmarks of the cities," he said.
While building projects overseas, Song Hailiang, president of the company, said that CCCC will also make more efforts to ensure the sustainable development of the destination countries.
CCCC will help educate more than 8,000 technicians for destination countries in the next two years. It plans to build more schools and hospitals for the local communities in the next few years, he said.
Moreover, the company will make environmental assessments, together with the United Nations Environment Program and the UN Human Settlements Program, to make sure that their projects under the Belt and Road Initiative are in line with green development, he added.
