WBCSD launches new “Pitch for Nature” video at World Forum on Natural Capital
Edinburgh, November 21 2013—At the inaugural World Forum on Natural Capital, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) launched a brand new video called “Pitch for Nature”, designed to explain what natural capital is and why businesses need to care. Led by the WBCSD, more than 25 of the world's top organizations working on the value of nature in business have come together behind one message in the “Pitch for Nature” video, which will raise the curtain on today’s World Forum on Natural Capital event.

More on Natural Capital
We all know what financial capital is. We’re even talking more and more about human capital and the value our employees‘skills and knowledge bring to our business. But what about natural capital? Natural capital is the value nature provides to business: the stocks of physical and biological resources and the capacity of ecosystems to provide a flow of services like water filtration and carbon sequestration.
The “Pitch for Nature” video suggests that if nature provides so much value, it needs to appear on more balance sheets. Companies that have natural capital on their balance sheets will not just be better equipped to manage risks. They’ll be better at capitalizing on new market, product and service opportunities and cost savings from better investment decisions.
