The Sixth Round of US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue was inaugurated in Beijing
On July 9-10, 2014, the Sixth Round of US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue was inaugurated in Beijing. State President Xi Jinping attended the meeting and delivered a speech named Work on the Building of New Major Power Relations between China and US. President Xi looked back the achievements since the establishment of Sino-US diplomatic relations 35 years ago and emphasized that China and US should consider the situation, adopt a long-term perspective, respect each other, increase multi trust, strength cooperation and work together to promote the building of new major power relations.
Wang Yang, Chinese Vice Premier, and Yang Jiechi, State Councilor as well as Kerry, US Secretary of State and Jack Lew, US Treasury Secretary co-hosted the dialogue. In the economic dialogue, both sides had a deep discussion on the macroeconomic policy and structural reform, cooperation in deepening trade and investment, reform and opening up in financial sector and cooperation in cross-border regulation; In the strategic dialogue, the two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on China-US relations, respective Asia-pacific policies and major international and regional issues of common concern.
