Article 1 The China Business Council for Sustainable Development (CBCSD) is a coalition of leading Chinese and foreign companies registered and operating in China. With its registered office in Beijing, PRC, CBCSD is a national organization established through approval by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of PRC.

Article 2 The CBCSD recognizes the importance of sustainable development and aims to nurture closer cooperation, dialogue and exchange between business, government and all other organizations concerned with environment and sustainable development to promote the sustainable development of all society.

Article 3 The CBCSD is an independent organization accountable to and functions under the sponsorship of the China Enterprise Confederation (CEC). It is a partner to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). It also networks and collaborates with the WBCSD and other national and regional BCSDs in order to encourage high standards of environmental management in business while focusing on the development needs of the Chinese business community.

Article 4 The CBCSD is a member driven organization whose aim is to encourage the Council Members and the Chinese business community to lead the development and implementation of sustainable business practices in China. By providing a forum for innovative exchange, the CBCSD will continually promote a commitment to the best Chinese and international standards of ecology efficiency, environmental protection, human resource management, performance disclosure, and greater stakeholder involvement.
