Chapter Three: Membership


Article 6 Membership Qualifications
Corporations and enterprises wishing to apply for membership in the CBCSD must agree to the following stipulations:
1. To recognize and agree to abide by the CBCSD Charter;
2. To maintain recognized leadership in their sector;
3. To maintain legal and operational independence;
4. To appoint the member corporation’s CEO or similarly designated executive as the corporation’s representative in the CBCSD;
5. To participate actively in the projects and efforts of the CBCSD;

Article 7 Rights of Members
Member corporations will have the following rights and privileges:
1. To vote on CBCSD affairs and pursue election of CBCSD offices in line with the electoral provisions of CBCSD;
2. To share and utilize the information resources of CBCSD;
3. To take part in CBCSD projects and share projects results;
4. To directly exchange current information and news with the WBCSD;
5. To cooperate and conduct exchanges with the BCSDs of other nations;
6. To make proposals to the government, through the CBCSD, for the rationalization of sustainable development policies.

Article 8 Obligations of Members
Members of the CBCSD are obligated to perform the following duties:
1. To abide by the Charter of the CBCSD and agree to implement CBCSD decisions;
2. To implement a policy of sustainable development in all management functions and decisions of the member corporation;
3. To pursue the development of technological and managerial capabilities that lead to sustainable operations, by improving corporate policies and procedures;
4. To share useful and current knowledge, technology and self-discipline standards among members;
5. To establish an open and flexible management system so as to promote progress within the entire industry;
6. To take an active role in educating both employees and customers in methods of environmental and resource management;
7. To pay all associated membership dues in a timely manner.
