Dr. Stachels
Dr. Stachels has been Managing Director of Bayer China Company Ltd. and Greater China Country Group Speaker for Bayer since January 1, 2001. Prior to this position he headed Bayer’s Asian Regionalization Project in 2000, which directly resulted in the creation of the Bayer Group for Greater China, consisting of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Dr. Stachels was born on February 5, 1943 in Coesfeld/Westfalia, Germany. Upon completion of studies of Jurisprudence and Economics in Tübingen and his Doctorate and an Assistant position at the University of Cologne, Dr. Stachels started his career with Bayer in 1973 in the Legal Department of Bayer AG in Leverkusen.
In 1979 he took over responsibility as Managing Director and National Spokesman for Bayer in Iran until 1982, when he returned to Germany to become head of the sales department of the Specialty Polyurethane Division. He went on to take up the position as the Managing Director and National Spokesman of Bayer in Mexico from 1988 to 1992. In 1993 he returned to Germany to become head of Marketing of Bayer’s Dystuff’s Business. He held this position until 1995, when he became a Managing Director of Bayer’s Joint Venture with Hoechst, DyStar in Frankfurt, Germany.
Dr. Stachels is married to Irene with three grown-up children.
