Mr. Jinya Chen has overall responsibility to lead Alcoa in Asia Pacific region, including strategy, business development, corporate affairs, procurement, Finance, law and people. He has overall accountability for Alcoa’s Asia strategy, responsible for developing and driving all aspects of our China strategy as Alcoa expands in this one of its most vital markets.

Since Mr. Jinya Chen joined Alcoa in January 2007, he has further advanced Alcoa China’s strategic position in Alcoa global businesses, promoted the international cooperation process between Alcoa and Chinese companies, advocated sustainability and strengthened Alcoa’s contributions to China’s communities.

Alcoa is the world leader in the production and management of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina combined. As one of the most sustainable metals, approximately 75% of aluminum produced in 1888 is still being recycled and used nowadays. Alcoa has been the leader in aluminum technology since its foundation: more than 90% of the high end aluminum alloys in aerospace are produced by Alcoa; Alcoa is leading the lightweight technology in transportation without sacrificing vehicle’s safety and performance; Alcoa’s excellent can body sheets are capable of producing 100% recyclable aluminum beverage cans; Alcoa’s building and construction products significantly promote the energy saving and emission reduction process in those areas. Alcoa also markets Alcoa® wheels, fastening systems, precision and investment castings, and building systems. The Company has been named one of the top most sustainable corporations in the world at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and has been a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for nine consecutive years.

Before joining Alcoa, Mr. Jinya Chen served various senior managerial roles in strategic, legal and operational assignments for more than 10 years in multinationals, including General Motors and Delphi. He is a graduate of the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade with a degree in economics, and has a law degree from East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai and Masters in Law from the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, MI.
