President of Greater China of The Dow Chemical Company, Mr.Peter Wong

Peter Wong is President, Greater China of The Dow Chemical Company, leading all geographic activities in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Based in Shanghai, China, he is responsible for developing business opportunities, engaging and cultivating critical stakeholders relationships which are key to business success, attracting and retaining talent, and implementing Dow’s business strategies in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Wong joined Dow as an engineer in Tsing Yi Plant, Hong Kong, in 1990. He was named assistant superintendent in 1995. A year later, he was transferred to Horgen, Switzerland, and became business analyst for Aromatic Derivatives, Hydrocarbons and Energy. In 1998, he was named Europe C4 Olefins commercial manager, and assumed the role of Europe and Asia commercial manager for Styrene and Cumene in the following year. In 2002, Wong returned to Hong Kong and was named Pacific Area commercial director for Chemicals and Performance Chemicals. In early 2003, he moved to Thailand and assumed the role of country manager and managing director for the SCC-Dow Group. Three years later, he was named business vice president for Polypropylene and Solvents & Intermediates and moved to Midland, Michigan, USA. In 2007, Wong was relocated to Singapore and took on the helm of leadership as commercial vice president for Plastics, Asia Pacific. During his six years tenure of commercial leadership, Wong led the Asia Pacific plastics team in various phases of the business transformation, including the successful start-up of Solution Polyethylene II train in Map Ta Phut in 2010. In addition, Wong introduced various new business collaboration initiatives such as joint development program with key strategy customers, machine makers program, and sustainability program with key trade associations which elevated Dow’s plastics branding in Asia Pacific as well as strengthening customer relationship.

Wong holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto in Canada.
