India’s Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) recently organized the14th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS), featuring a wide range of inspiring speakers on the theme of “Attaining energy, water and food security for all”. TERI is an active Regional Network member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Sustainable growth and development was stressed by various speakers at the Summit, especially in the context of developing countries facing a crisis due to global trends including climate change and scarcity of natural resources. At a discussion during the Summit’s Leadership Panel, participants stressed the need for incentives to change the present paradigm of development.
TERI’s flagship annual DSDS event seeks to facilitate enlightened debate and discussion on the discourse of global sustainable development. Over the past 13 years, it has emerged as one of the leading forums on issues of global sustainability. Through DSDS, TERI aims to create enabling platforms for global leaders, heads of state and national governments, scientists, academics, policy makers, entrepreneurs, corporate entities and the youth to exchange new ideas to expand the dimensions and scope of the debate over global sustainability issues. In the past, the Summit has welcomed the participation of 36 heads of states, ministerial representation from 50 countries, and has been inaugurated by India’s Prime Minister since 2010.
