Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company (hereinafter is abbreviated as ZRCC) is one of the flagship enterprises affiliated to Sinopec. With Zhejiang Refinery as its predecessor that dates back to 1975, the Company was restructured into Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. and became listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1994. Responding to the integrated strategic plan of Sinopec, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. revoked its listing position in March, 2006 and in September of the same year, incorporated the Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company.

Over the past thirty three years, following a philosophy of “Grow in Harmony, Share the Future”, taking the good opportunity of developing costal refineries and making full use of the favorable geographic location Ningbo enjoys and the developed market in East China area, ZRCC has been maintaining a sound growth momentum through constant pioneering, progressing, reforming and innovating, making it grow into a pace-setter enterprise out of a small refinery of 2.5 million tpa.

With a comprehensive crude oil processing capacity of 20 million tpa, a urea capacity of 600,000 tpa, an aromatics capacity of 1 million tpa, a polypropylene(“PP”) capacity of 200,000 tpa, a deep water sea jetty with over 45 million tons of annual handling capacity and a tankage of over 2.8 million cubic meters, ZRCC is, for China, the largest base for crude oil processing, for imported crude oil processing and sour crude oil processing, an oil products export base as well as one of the major crude oil distribution bases. World renowned Solomon’s performance evaluation report indicates that ZRCC ranks among the top in competitive ability among the 72 Asia-Pacific refineries. The statistics from Oil & Gas Journal in America show that ZRCC ranked 18th in the world of its refining capability in 2006.

ZRCC boasts its various and comprehensive processing methods and supporting facilities, close combination between petroleum and chemicals, and capability of deep and inferior crude processing. All production plants are equipped with DCS control and major plants are operated with APC. In particular, the plants, such as 10 MTA CDU/VDU, 3 MTA FCC, 2 MTA DCU, 3 MTA diesel hydrogenation unit and 1.8 MTA VGO hydrogenation unit, 500 KTA PX, 200 KTA PP and 410 t/h CFB boilers, are leading refining, chemical and cogeneration units in China with respect to scale and technology, representing the leading position in China’s refining industry.

ZRCC commits itself to providing clean and environmental-friendly products for the society, producing intermediate petrochemical products to drive down-stream industry development, innovating and developing a variety of high-end petrochemicals. The types of its products are up to more than 40, covering clean gasoline with different grades, premium diesel, jet fuel, LPG, high-grade road asphalt, urea, aromatics, etc. Particularly, gasoline, jet fuel and aromatics are exported to countries such as US, Japan, India, ROK, Singapore and regions such as Taiwan and Hong Kong SAR. Meanwhile ZRCC was awarded to supply asphalt to Shanghai F1 Track. The successful application of this customized asphalt enables ZRCC edge into the FIA’s shortlist of asphalt supplier. Moreover, many more petrochemical products, such as RON98 lead-free gasoline conforming to Euro III Emission Specification & Olympic Specification, gasoline for export to Australia, low sulfur motor diesel, effect-enhanced urea, gasoline conforming to Beijing standard B, and heavy traffic paving petroleum asphalt, etc. have been developed and launched to the market.

ZRCC attaches importance to “intrinsic safety” and stringently secures all levels of safe production accountability. The Company was conferred the title “Sinopec safe-production advanced enterprise”. Due to implementation of clean production and pollution control in all-around way, all of pollutant emission indexes are good enough to be deemed as advanced in China, of which, some even meet international levels. ZRCC also established an economic mode of internal cycle to build itself into ecologic enterprise, realizing the harmony with the community, surroundings and nature. In September 2004, ZRCC was honored as one of the eight “National Environmental-friendly Enterprises” granted first by Chinese government. In July 2007, it was awarded “China Baosteel’s Environmental Protection Award of Excellence”.
