Jun 21, 2018 (China Knowledge) - The world brand lab announced the watch report on "China top 500 most valuable brands", which is produced on the basis of financial status, brand strength and consumer behavior analysis.
State Grid Corporation of China is ranked first on the brand value (RMB 406.57 billion). The top five also included Tencent (RMB 402.85 billion), Haier (RMB 350.28 billion), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (RMB 334.56 billion), and China Life Insurance (RMB 325.37 billion). These Chinese brands have all entered the group of world famous brands.
The report shows that the total value of the "China's 500 most valuable brands" in 2018 rose 18.56% from a year earlier to RMB 18.25 trillion, marking an increase of RMB 2.89 trillion year on year.
In this year's "China's 500 most valuable brands" a total of 25 brands were originated from food and beverages, textile and apparel, cultural media, information technology, and household appliances. Among them, the food and beverage industry top the list with the largest number of selected brands, where a total of 85 brands were selected and accounted for 17.00% of the total number of selected brands.
In response to the report on Chinese brands, Prof. Robert Mundell, Nobel Prize winner in economics pointed out that the emergence of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain have brought new hope to brand growth. Some 15 years ago, the average value of the top 500 brands was RMB 4.94 billion. The situation has changed drastically 15 years later in 2018, when the average value of 500 brands rose 646.35% to a high of RMB 36.89 billion.
The World Brand Lab is an international and professional brand research institution. It is chaired by Robert Mundell, a professor of the Nobel Prize in Economics and a professor at Columbia University. The experts and consultants are from Harvard. University, Yale University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Oxford University, Cambridge University and other top universities in the world.
