CSR Guide for Multinational Corporation in China Published in Beijing

For promoting multinational companies to better understand China’s current situation and demand in social and environmental aspects, as well as cooperation between business and society in order to achieve beneficial social, economic and environmental outcomes. Harmony Foundation (Canada) and SynTao worked together in writing this guidebook: CSR Guide for Multinational Corporation in China. On 12th July, 2013, the Guide was published at Corporate Citizen Auditorium in Beijing.

Mr. Zhang Junfeng, Deputy Director of the International Labour research institute, Human Resources and Society Security Ministry; Mr. Hui Mingyu, Chief Representative (China) of GRI; Dr. Guo Peiyuan, President of SynTao; Mr. Liu Weihua, vice-president of China Corporate Citizenship Committee and representatives from Canon, Novozymes and L'Oreal addressed the convention.

Ms. An Jiali, co-auther and Research Manger of SynTao, introduced that the primary purpose of this guide is to help CSR practitioners and business leaders to make that transition to society-based CSR and to

understand the public’s view of CSR and the benefits of substance over appearance, grasp the importance of CSR in China and trends that lie ahead, develop meaningful CSR programs that meet societal and business needs,
build long-term community relationships through productive partnerships, and learn from successful experiences and best practices in CSR.

Mr. Liu appraised that It’s the time for multinational companies to grasp the opportunities and avoid risks in changing China. The Guide published by Harmony Foundation and SynTao can provide strategic direct at the right time.

Dr. Guo indicated that We hope this Guidebook can lead a market and brand-based CSR theory to society and social-regenerating-based CSR concept, and bring benefits for both society and companies. And we hope this Guide can provide reference for consulting companies, domestic companies, academic institutions, government agencies and other CSR practitioners.
