Currently, Deputy Director of the Office of Coordination Committee on Climate Change of NDRC Li Liyan pointed out that up to November 30, 2006, China has approved 208 CDM projects, which create greenhouse gas emission reduction of about 650 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
On the Sino-France CDM Capacity Building Training Seminar in Guiyang (Guizhou Province),she also mentioned that China has made enormous contribution to greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
Li Liyan also introduced several CDM key areas: energy efficiency improvement, development and utilization of new energy and renewable energy and methane and coal-bed gas utilization. At present, most approved projects in China are concerning the renewable energy development, in which wind power ones accounting for 46%. As to the buyers, EU countries are the largest buyers, with a total purchase amount of 520 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
According to NDRC, within the approved 208 CDM projects, 32 have been registered by EB. According to the procedures, the project can launch implementation only after the registration by EB.
