About CDP in China

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent not-for-profit organisation holding the largest database of corporate climate change information in the world. CDP gathers data through its annual Information Requests on behalf of institutional investors, purchasing organisations and government bodies.  Since its formation in 2000, CDP has become the gold standard for carbon disclosure methodology and process, providing critical climate change data to the global market place. In 2009, CDP on behalf of some 475 institutional investors, with combined assets under management in excess of $55 trillion, will send out the Information Request to more than 6,000 biggest listed companies globally. In 2008, over 1550 biggest international companies reported relevant information about their response to climate change to 385 institutional investors (signatory investors).

CDP information requests were sent to the largest 100 listed Chinese companies, and 25% of them submitted their responses (5 companies answered the questionnaire, and 20 companies provided relevant information).
