To ensure the completion of emission reduction objective and task this year, the NDRC raised 11 reinforcing measures on Tuesday. Of most concern, total coal consumption controlling pilots will be implemented in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Shandong City Group.
According to relative official in Guangdong Energy Bureau, given that Action Plan for Atmospheric Pollution made by the MEP will be launched soon, which lists requirements for main areas controlling total coal consumption in Pearl River Delta, Guangdong Province will carry out the total coal consumption controlling pilots work in accordance to the requirement of the Action Plan.
In order to control air pollution caused by coal-fired in Pearl River Delta, this year construction areas of prefecture-level cities or above in Pearl River Delta and Shunde District will be taken into “high-pollution fuel (including coal and heavy oil) forbidden areas”. Presently, 8 cities in Pearl River Delta have defined their own high-pollution fuel forbidden areas.
