Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction in oil industry: “ Liaohe Style”

Liaohe Oilfield is the largest production base of thick oil and high-solidifying point crude oil in China. Thick oil, super-thick oil and high-solidifying point crude oil take 2/3 of the total oil production of 10 million tons. These kinds of oil need thermal recovery whose energy consumption is 2-3 times more than normal recovery. Thus, Liaohe Oilfield is characterized with high energy consumption.

In order to save energy and reduce emission, in recent years, Liaohe Oilfield promoted scientific research on resource-conservation technology to increase comprehensive resource utilization rate. As a result, the famous “Liaohe Style” on energy conversation and emission reduction has been formed, which includes the following four energy-saving projects:

1.      Implementing “ oil saving projects” mainly on lowering fuel oil consumption;

2.      Implementing “natural gas saving projects” mainly on raising the rate of comprehensive utilization of natural gas;

3.      Implementing “power saving projects” mainly on energy-conservation reconstruction of machine exploiting system;

4.      Implementing “resource comprehensive utilization projects” mainly on utility of sewage heat.
