The 5th International Youth Summit on Energy and Climate Change held in Beijing

China’s annual three day International Youth Summit on Energy and Climate Change (IYSECC) took place at Peking University and Tsinghua University this month. The event was hosted by China’s Youth Climate Action Network (CYCAN), Tsinghua University Student Green Association (TUSGA), and the Clean Development Mechanism Club (CDM Club) from Peking University. The summit aims to create a positive value system for youth by displaying their achievements in the fields of energy and climate change.

Ann Wang, co-founder of We Impact, was honoured to be a key note speaker at China’s 5th annual International Youth Summit on Energy and Climate Action. Her speech addressed the need for sustainable consumption and green supply chains in China.

China’s Youth Climate Action Network (CYCAN) was founded in the summer of 2007 by seven inspired Chinese university students, leveraging their resources to create the first non-profit climate change organization for youth in China.

Eco-conscience consumers today in China have more green products to choose from and involvement opportunities available to them than at any other time in history. Consumer driven demand for environmentally responsible supply chains and transparent organizational reporting will be the legacy of this generation. Informed buyers no longer accept cost-effectiveness as the sole operational value metric. It is for these reasons that sustainable consumption and green supply chains are pertinent topics today.
