Jiangsu Development Action on Green Building will be put into force since this July 1. This is the first local regulation on green building in China. The most distinctive characteristic is to promote green building by compulsive measures. According to the Act, the planning, design, and construction of new civil building should comply with over one-star Green Building Evaluation Standard; large-scale public building invested and financed by state-owned capital should meet over two-star Green Building Evaluation Standard; other buildings are encouraged to adopt over two-star Green Building Evaluation Standard.
