The World Water Week has been the annual focal point for the globe's water issues since 1991. It is hosted and organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), and takes place each year in Stockholm. WBCSD is an active participant and contributor to this event. We consider it as key to share experiences and knowledge, as well as foster dialog and build partnerships between member companies and the wider water community as solution providers, advocates and leaders for a sustainable water future.
In 2012 the theme of the week is water & food security. WBCSD participation will seek to advance dialog, knowledge and action on three main themes:
- Sustainable management of the water-energy-food nexus
- Usage of water tools for improved governance
- Decision making and the promotion of new approaches for resilient business decisions to respond to climate change.

Stockholm Industry Water Award
WBCSD co-founded the Award and supports it to inspire innovation and commitment while demonstrating collective business ability to provide expertise and solutions at scale for sustainable water management. PepsiCo, 2012 winner, will receive its Award at the Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 28 August. This will be followed by the Business Founders seminar, co-organized by WBCSD and SIWI, which will provide current views on how to manage the water-energy-food nexus to ensure that we meet the demands without degrading the environment. It will build on successful case studies to stimulate participants to reflect on the best policy options for accelerating the deployment of sustainable solutions.
